Buzz Rickson's BR80669 Type A-2 85th BOMB. SQ. "KNOCKOUT DROPPER"

Buzz Rickson's BR80669 Type A-2 85th BOMB. SQ. "KNOCKOUT DROPPER"

Buzz Rickson’s faithfully recreates Aero Leather’s 1941 fifth A-2 lot, the first to drop the stand collar for the open neckline that defined later contracts. Mirrored front panels balance the pocket line while seam spacing adds subtle asymmetry. Rectangular pockets, narrow stitch lines, and ring-stud snaps make for a crisp, utilitarian look that ages well. Unique to Aero, red rib knits pop against dark seal brown leather, an unmistakable hallmark.

This version of the jacket features meticulously hand-painted imagery on the back and vintage style patches on the chest and sleeve. The chest patch is an image that was used by the 85th Bomb Squadron, a squadron that conducted missions in North Africa and the Mediterranean, and the painting on the back pays homage to the nose art on the B-29 "Little Gem", flown by the 497th Bombardment Group, itself an image cribbed from the Peruvian-American artist Alberto Vargas.
